The Davey G. Project is not the name of a band, rather it's what David Garner calls his one-stop Info Land to find out about his musical pursuits.  David spent his (thirteen) pre-Bar Mitzvah years up in a suburb of Chicago called Arlington Heights, Illinois. There, David and his brothers Joey and Michael would spend the winter months throwing snowballs at passers-by, and the summer months playing Homerun Derby in a neighbor's yard. A significant discovery that the brothers made while performing prank calls was that they shared area codes and the first five digits of their telephone number with a local fast-food chicken restaurant - something which contributed to the numerous "surprise" (i.e. uninvited) deliveries made to friends' homes throughout the years

In elementary school, David began tickling the ivories with the help of his parents.  It was later in Arlington Heights where David and his brother Joey formed their first rock band, the Basement Boys, a name which several boy bands (such as the Backstreet Boys) would attempt to rip off and keep as their own during at least the upcoming decade.  The band name was derived from the cement, underground practice space that became a home to the band's daily rehearsals in Arlington Heights, Illinois.

Between the ages of 13 and 18 years old, David lived in a suburb of San Francisco called Danville. (During this time, the idea occurred to him several times to change his name from David to Dan in order to feel "accepted" or "cool".) David began performing in a jazz combo group called the Windjammers.  For several years, the band's gigs called for formal tuxedo attire, and consisted of performing jazz standards.  Looking for change, David began searching for a relaxed, jam band environment and an outlet for working on his original compositions.

In a San Ramon High School jazz band rehearsal, David met up with other members of his former (then to be future) band, Pucker Up. Over a period of five years, Pucker Up grew to be a regular headliner in the San Francisco Bay Area and headed up shows throughout the west coast in numerous tours and music festivals. Their musical career culminated with a California tour that included a grand total of one show!!! (in San Diego) and countless hours of driving (due to the breakdown of the beloved Garner family Astro Van #1). :)

In college, David spent Friday evenings performing with the Young Inspiration Gospel Choir over the course of several years (where he represented the white, Jewish contingent in the diverse group).  During this period, he also spent some time playing keyboards in the Berkeley, hippy jam band, Wayside.  Over the past few years, David has teamed up with a handfull of solo artists and developing bands as he has moved to the Los Angeles area.

David now resides in Los Angeles where he has worked as the keyboard player for the jamband, The People's Party, and the accoustic duo, Todd and Dave.  He also plays with the neo-soul R&B projects of L Debois, Genesis, and Phil Lawrence.  Most recently, he has been working with Davey G. Project elements of Charles Altura, Tony Glaser, Orlando Boyd, Will Lee, Jamil O'Quinn, Brian Landau and Scott Wittenberg.  When asked about these project bands, David was recently quoted on the cover of (Fake) People's magazine as saying that they "really make [him] jive, like a bee in the hive" (June 2006).  Seriously.

David is a graduate of UC Berkeley where he majored in Peace and Conflict Studies and has spent the past three years teaching elementary and high school in the Macarthur Park community of downtown Los Angeles and at Dominguez H.S. in Compton. He thanks you for supporting him in his journey.
